Baby Takes A Trip to the Dentist

I happen to look down at the rug and lo and behold there was a canine tooth laying on the rug.
After some frantic mouth checks (two), it was determined that Baby had a broken tooth.
We  worried that she might be in pain and rushed her in to the Vet. He said it was broken below the gum line and the root was exposed.
Long story short. Baby had to have 4 broken teeth surgically removed at a cost of $3,000.
We would have paid $30,000 so the price wasn't an issue when it comes to our fur children. And afterwards I found out they offer pet insurance. Who would of known?? Us obviously!
I asked the Vet what could have caused her teeth to break and raw hide chews were the culprit.
Be careful giving rawhide chews to your pets. They are not good for them.
Baby is okay now. She is a little sloppy when she eats but at least I know she isn't in any pain.
Tinkerbelle will be next for a dental check up. Lets hope she doesn't have any broken teeth.

I love dogs more than people, so you are preaching to the choir. Glad she's okay.

So glad your fur baby is okay! They are just like our children to us, and deserve the best of care. We had our oldest in the vet college hospital at Shands for a week a couple of years ago. They saved her life, although never did find out what caused the sudden kidney failure. We were just glad to be bringing her home :)

I totally agree on the raw hides. My big boxer boy would get the knot undone and try to swallow the whole thing. After sticking my hand down his throat twice, I took them away!

How sad and painful. And expensive, too!

Glad she is okay now. Makes me think pet insurance is not a bad idea!!

EW! That was an expensive lesson in not giving "man's best friend" rawhide chews!
